LexisNexis Academic.  Provides access to primary source material such as case law, statutes, and regulations or dives into secondary source materials such as legal news or law reviews for background or analysis of a legal topic.

Union-Related Websites

AFL-CIO/NEA Labor Solidarity Partnership.  Allows local affiliates of the NEA to join the federation at the local and state levels through affiliation with the national AFL-CIO.

Cornell Legal Information Institute.  Overviews of the law in collective bargaining, employment discrimination, unemployment compensation, pensions, workplace safety, and workers’ compensation.

Illinois Labor History Society.  Illinois labor history sites, US labor history curriculum, labor history articles, and union hall of labor.

Labor Arts.  Documents and celebrates the artistic and cultural heritage of working people and the labor movement.

Government Agencies and Websites

Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Primary source for labor statistics, including employment trends, labor force statistics, and wage data.

Illinois Department of Human Rights.  The Department of Human Rights administers the Illinois Human Rights Act.  The Illinois Human Rights Act (“Act”).

Illinois Department of Labor.  IDOL is responsible for the administration and enforcement of more than 20 labor and safety laws.

Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board.  The IELRB is the state agency administering the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act, which establishes the right of educational employees to organize and bargain collectively.

Illinois General Assembly.  Legislation and laws, resources, Senate and House contact information, more.

Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.  The Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission resolves disputes between employees and employers regarding work-related injuries and illnesses.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration.  View and download safety and health data and regulations.

U.S. Department of Labor.  The mission of the USDoL is to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  Most employers with at least 15 employees are covered by EEOC laws (20 employees in age discrimination cases) that apply to all types of work situations, including hiring, firing, promotions, harassment, training, wages, and benefits.
