The method for calculating service credit for SURS has changed for adjunct faculty.

SURS Facts – Part-time Adjunct Faculty Bill. Public Act 103-0548 – effective 9/1/2024

Summary

Public Act 103-0548 was signed into law on August 11, 2023.  This legislation amends the SURS Article of the Illinois Pension Code to change the method in which service credit is granted and eliminate the part-time adjustment for participants of SURS on or after September 1, 2024.

Emeritus Status

Ready to apply for Emeritus status? Email emeritusfaculty@oakton.edu with their B number and date of retirement to get the process started. The deadline is before December 15th of each year to attain Emeritus status by January. Contact Syed Alavi in Academic Affairs salavi@oakton.edu for more information.
